Jorge Augusto Paulus Brun<\/strong>o, a native of Terceira Island, was born on 13 June 1959. \nHe graduated in History from the University of the Azores in 1981 and has since held positions of executive and political responsibility, namely as Regional Director of Cultural Affairs, Regional Director of Social Security, Vice-President of the Regional Civil Protection Service and Director of Organisation and Planning Services in the area of Health in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. At the beginning of his career, he served as Chief of Staff to the Regional Secretaries of Education and Culture of the II and III Regional Governments of the Azores. \n \nHe belongs to the Staff of Terceira Island, in the career of senior technician, assigned to the Regional Directorate of Culture, and is a full member of several cultural institutions. \n \nHe has attended courses and training programmes at regional, national and foreign institutions in his areas of expertise. \n \nHe is the author of several articles and has presented numerous papers and conferences, both in Portugal and abroad, in the areas of culture, medical emergencies, civil protection, social security and social action.<\/p>\n\n

In both the performance of his professional duties and his associative activities, he has coordinated and authored museological programmes for dozens of exhibitions across a wide range of thematic areas, as well as the cultural development plans carried out in connection with them.<\/p> \n

He served as President of the IAC \u2013 Azorean Institute of Culture from 1990 to 2009, and of \u201cAtl\u00e2ntida \u2013 Revista de Cultura\u201d (the Institute\u2019s cultural journal), which is dedicated to the promotion of all forms of culture.<\/p> \n

He was the coordinator of the Inventory of Immovable Heritage of the Azores project, which was implemented by the IAC \u2013 Azorean Institute of Culture with funding from the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Regional Government of the Azores.<\/p> \n

As President of the Board of Directors of the IAC, he oversaw the management of the Atlantic Digital Art Project (PAAD) and the Chronos Project (aimed at creating an e-learning platform with content relating to the history and culture of the archipelagos in Macaronesia), both of which were executed with funding from INTERREG III-B \u2013 Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands (ERDF), involving partners from the Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, and Cape Verde, in which the IAC acted as the lead partner.<\/p> \n

He is currently President of the General Assembly of the Sociedade Filarm\u00f3nica de Instru\u00e7\u00e3o e Recreio dos Artistas and of the Boards of the Cine-Clube da Ilha Terceira and the Gr\u00e9mio Atl\u00e2ntico \u2013 Civic, Cultural and Solidarity Association.<\/p> \n

Since 2005, he has served as Director of the Museum of Angra do Hero\u00edsmo, with a hiatus from 26 October 2009 to 26 November 2012, during which he held the position of Regional Director of Culture in the 10th Government of the Azores.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

In 2024, he was awarded a prize for professional merit in the field of museology by the Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM) and, as a result, was the subject of a Vote of Congratulation approved by the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores for the distinction awarded, “recognising the merit, commitment and effort in promoting culture in the Azores in general and on Terceira Island in particular.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
