To ensure accurate measurement, during the reign of <strong data-start=\"248\" data-end=\"264\">D. Sebasti\u00e3o<\/strong> the use of the <strong data-start=\"280\" data-end=\"291\">rasoura<\/strong> became mandatory, an instrument that leveled and removed the excess from the measure. After the work, the miller would take a portion of the flour as payment for his labor \u2014 the <strong data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"480\">maquia<\/strong> \u2014 using a small measure of the same name.
