It is the result of a survey and investigation of the Azorean ethnographic heritage carried out by the CRAA, which aims to enhance and dignify Azorean craft productions.<br\/>The English term patchwork, literally \u2018working with scraps\u2019, defines the technique as joining fabrics in an infinite number of formats. Of rural origin and very popular in the Azores, patchwork has also become known as \u2018crazy work\u2019 and is characterised by the rusticity of the material used, often resulting from the reuse of fabric waste, its aesthetic multiplicity and its multifunctionality.<br\/>Blankets, rugs, sacks, decorative panels and other pieces which belong not only to the CRAA&#8217;s ethnographic collection, but also to various museums in the region and private individuals, which reflect the mastery of a traditionally feminine art, inherited knowledge and shared experiences transferred to the world of textiles, while illustrating the evolution of tastes, materials and techniques<em>.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1
