With the evolution of road traffic, and following successive international conventions, to which Portugal has adhered, there has been a progressive increase in the number of traffic signs and their respective categories \u2013 <strong>information, obligation, danger and prohibition<\/strong>. The signs on display reflect these categories: the <strong>triangular<\/strong> sign, corresponding to a <strong>danger<\/strong> warning, indicates the proximity of a school or a place frequented by children; the <strong>circular<\/strong> sign represents a traffic <strong>prohibition<\/strong> for vehicles with trailers; and the <strong>quadrangular<\/strong> sign, for <strong>information<\/strong>, indicates the proximity of a hospital.
