May 14<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Saturday, 14 May, more than 200 people came to the Museum of Angra to take part in the institution’s Museum Night activities.The programme centred around the recently opened exhibition By Sea and by Land… a history in the Atlantic<\/em><\/strong>, which deals precisely with the history of Terceira island in conjunction with that of the Azores and the Atlantic.During the afternoon, there were initiatives especially for children and young people. At 19:00, the cinema room that is part of the exhibition was filled for the screening of an abridged version of Document\u00e1rio Terceirense<\/em><\/strong>, the first Azorean film. It was produced by Foto-Cinema A\u00e7ores and directed by Ant\u00f3nio Lu\u00eds Louren\u00e7o da Costa in 1927. It’s only public presentation took place in 2006. This was followed by a guided tour of the exhibition space By Sea and by Land… a history in the Atlantic, which was led by our curators.The evening concluded with a music and dance show featuring classical guitar, ballet, Asian and African rhythms, and ballroom dancing. The performances of the different players were combined with the projection of images of pieces from the museum’s collection according to their nature or origin.On Museum Day<\/strong>, May 18, our Educational Service will organise activities to explore the exhibition By Sea and by Land… a history in the Atlantic<\/strong>, which will be aimed at pre-school and primary school children. In the afternoon, the exhibition will be seen through the lenses of students from the Angra do Hero\u00edsmo school’s Photography Club, and there will also be a guided tour of the space for tourist guides. We will be open until 20:00 in order to offer the people of Terceira both the chance to enjoy a late afternoon visit to the By Sea and by Land… a history of the Atlantic exhibition and the opportunity to watch a short show in the former convent of S\u00e3o Francisco’s choir performed by classical ballet and guitar students from the Angra do Hero\u00edsmo Conservatory.At 18:00, there will once again be a commented screening of the Document\u00e1rio Terceirense, which will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition By Sea and by Land… a history in the Atlantic<\/em><\/strong>. At 19:30, there will be a performance by the students of the Classical Ballet class at the Angra do Hero\u00edsmo Conservatory, led by teacher Eduarda Rosa, which will end with a musical performance by classical guitar student Miguel Maduro-Dias. <\/p>\n\n
