After looking again and again at depictions of the Good Shepherd, one notices that the Child sleeps protected by tender sheep, beside a fountain where strange birds drink, in an ivory garden where lions and lambs nestle side by side. It is, indeed, paradise! And what about the cake created by Lila de Magalh\u00e3es? Inhabited by fish, limpets, snails, ladybirds, butterflies, and people\u2026 isn\u2019t it another kind of garden?
