Some argue, however, that hell is not in the afterlife, but on Earth, lodged in the minds of each of us, sometimes ravaged by creatures no less frightening and fearsome than those that inhabited the underworld. Hell is still experienced by the victims of natural disasters or injustice and intolerance.&#13;\nThe fantastic creatures, composed of parts of different animals&#8217; bodies, which illuminated medieval codices are still very much present in our imagination.
