Printing Press

This printing press, part of the Science and Technology Collection of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo, was one of the first machines for serial printing, manufactured in the early 20th century by the Golding Company in Boston, USA. It likely belonged to the Tipografia Editora Andrade. Machines of this type were used to print many of the newspapers and pamphlets published on Terceira Island during the turbulent and politically charged period of the First Portuguese Republic (1910–1926). It is included in the exhibition “From Sea and Land… A History in the Atlantic.”
