This articulated miniature depicts the ancestral act of wood sawing. Its mechanism of toothed wheels, operated by a small external crank, lends the scene the necessary liveliness. The construction of miniatures of objects and/or scenes from traditional rural life became a way of preserving community memories, particularly encouraged from the mid-20th century onwards. It has since become not only an explanatory tool in museums but also a souvenir. The piece is part of the Ethnography Management Unit of the MAH.
