Manuel Coelho Baptista de Lima Military History Centre, until January 2021 Created by José Nuno da Câmara Pereira in 2003, when the United States declared war on Iraq, then presided over by George W. Bush, this sculpture entitled ‘Senhor da Guerra’ (Lord of War) is, in the words of art critic José Luís Porfírio, ‘above all, a three-dimensional caricature’ that ‘remains, today, as relevant as ever’. On display until January 2021 in the lobby of the NHMMCBL, it is part of the Fine Arts Collection of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo. José Nuno da Câmara Pereira (1937-2018) is an artist from São Miguel who made a name for himself in contemporary art through his continuous experimentation with formats, techniques and media.
