This exhibition is a thematic exchange on the participation of Portugal and the Azores in what was known at the time as the “Great War”. Its thematic context is achieved through the use of cartographic and photographic elements, which allow the visitor to understand what Europe and the world were like before and after the end of the war and what the local newspapers reported about its evolution. The countries participating in the war are identified through helmets and military objects such as weapons, antique masks, lanterns, communication systems, images and sounds that suggest the atmosphere and daily life of war. Particular emphasis is placed on personalities such as Lieutenant-Colonel José Agostinho and Lieutenant Carvalho Araújo.
