Luís Herberto, a painter born on Terceira Island in Angra do Heroísmo in 1966, explores issues of gender, sexuality, defiance and art in this exhibition.
his large format painting sequence presents, in openly graphic language, images of police and paramilitary forces in action in varied demonstration scenarios. It’s title evokes Zeca Afonso’s famous protest song O que faz falta!,from which it explores social control imagery through clear violations of social dignity and basic human rights implied in a social and democratic existence.
