A leading figure in Azorean culture, intellectual, writer and poet, Vasco Pereira da Costa is also an artist. In this exhibition, we will see material formulations that are the result of experimentation with techniques learned from museums and contemporary art centres in different parts of the world. His openness to new trends, the predominance of mixed techniques and the use of non-noble materials can also be understood as a consequence of his admiration for Antoni Tàpies and Louise Nevelson. His close relationship with José Nuno da Câmara Pereira, from whom he recognises he received invaluable knowledge and impetus, can also be a reason for the markedly experimentalist nature of the pieces on show.
