Capítulo Gallery, 15 June to Nov.
The public presentation of the estate of Francisco Lacerda (1869-1934), one of the most notable and recognised Portuguese conductors and composers of all time, is the main theme of this exhibition. It is part of a wider project backed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to safeguard and disseminate this documentary collection. Original works by the composer, musical instruments, correspondence with illustrious figures and popular songs from the most diverse regions of the country reveal the unique and multifaceted personality of the illustrious Azorean who was also a musicologist, folklorist, lecturer, illustrator and poet. Therefore, this exhibition is particularly important for music schools, philharmonics, folk groups and other musical organisations.
