The exhibition European Ceramics from the 17th to the 19th Century: from Eastern Influence to Western Images aims to show the evolution of design in European ceramics.
This exhibition includes pieces that prove the decisive role that Chinese porcelain played in shaping European taste in the 16th century, and shows how European naturalism and romanticism also marked the decorative grammar of Portuguese production in the 19th century.
Dishes, tureens, jugs and apothecary jars, essentially of Portuguese origin, all of which belong to our Decorative Arts collection, create an appealing and rich ensemble, evocative of refined and sumptuous surroundings.
