São Francisco Building Capítulo Gallery

The richness and diversity of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo’s radiocommunication collection is the result of two important donations made in recent years. One donation by Victor Jorge Pamplona Ramos (1937) and the other by João Fernando Goulart Bettencourt Pereira Porto’s heirs. They made the present exhibition possible, which includes a representative selection of radio communications’ evolution. It emphasises not only amateur radio amateurism but also certain episodes in Terceira Island’s history, in a Cold War context.
This exhibition represents, therefore, a tribute to all the professionals and amateurs who dedicate themselves to radio communications. It also gives special mention to Vitor Ramos and João Porto’s professionalism and dedication with which they exercised, throughout their lives, these activities.
