From Sea and from Land... a history of the Atlantic
The exhibit A Moeda: Das Origens à Globalização (Coinage: From Origins to Globalization) is a continuation of the collection donated by the renowned historian Luís Filipe Thomaz. It is currently on display in the II Moment of the permenant exhibition From the Sea and the Land… a history of the Atlantic. This 4th stage of one of the most important additions made by this museum is distinguished by the display of a set of extraordinary numismatic items, which are representative of the History of Money, which could perhaps be Humanity’s most mobilising invention. On this occasion, Professor Luís Filipe Thomaz will give a lecture highlighting the journey of numismatic species from their origins to the present day. Luís Filipe Thomaz’s Coin Collection is one of the most complete and comprehensive in Portugal and was donated to the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo.
