Cabinet of Curiosities – Vial with Mercury

This months highlited piece is a mercury vial, which is housed in the Archaeology Conservation Unit in Museum of Angra do Heroísmo. In 1995, this mercury vial was found during an archeological survey to a shipwreck named Angra D. The Angra D proved to be a Castilian-built vessel, which dated from between the second half of the 16th century and the beginning of the first half of the 17th century.
