Amphora

The exhibition highlights an Amphora, which was a chance find in 1984 from the bay of Angra do Heroísmo. It is part of the Archaeology Conservation Unit of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo. This type of Amphorae get its name from their similarities to Roman amphorae. It is thanks to pieces such as these that we can gather information relating to the intensity of the trade routes that were established during the various centuries in which these pieces were used.
