INAUGURATION 75 YEARS 75 DONATIONS
Over the course of 75 years, it was above all donations that enabled the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo to enrich its collection and, at the same time, strengthen its ties with the community, which made it a guarantor of memories and, consequently, of stories. Through the diversity of the 75 pieces, which were all donated, we wish to evoke environments, spaces and experiences, some more distant, others much closer, and to pay tribute to all those involved.
COMMEMORATIVE ACTIVITIES
March marks the start of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo’s 75th-anniversary celebrations with the launch of a series of activities to mark the date of the official creation of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo on 30 March 1949. The opening of the 75 Years – 75 Donations exhibition will officially launch the celebrations. This exhibition will be supplemented by the launch of a commemorative postcard, stamp and seal, which were created in collaboration with the Terceira Island Philatelic Centre and the Associação de Amigos do Museu de Angra do Heroísmo. The museum will also open a new gallery with portraits of the institution’s former directors.
