On 16 September and 28 October, from 14:00 to 17:00, at the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo, the MAH, through its Educational Service and in partnership with CADA – the Azores Centre for Handicrafts and Design, hosts a workshop dedicated to the traditional manual and decorative technique of fish scales.
In the first part, the activity, led by Aida Barbosa, will include an essentially theoretical presentation covering the entire artisanal process, from cleaning the scales to dyeing them with natural plants and preparing them for use. This will be followed by a more practical component, in which participants will handle and work with the scales themselves, applying the dyeing process.
The workshop continues on 28 October, at the same time, with the preparation and creation of various pieces made from fish scales, such as rings, earrings, brooches or flowers, thus completing the training in this ancient craft technique.
The activity is free of charge and aimed at 10 participants aged over 8, accompanied by an adult. Participation is subject to prior registration via telephone on 295 240 801 or by email at [email protected]
