The exhibition by the ceramist Adolfo Mendonça provides the starting point for a discussion about American whaling and its influence on whaling in the Azores. The difference between whales and sperm whales, as well as the purposes of hunting them, is also addressed during this activity, which concludes with a visit to the exhibition Do Mar e da Terra… uma história no Atlântico, where objects of art and everyday use made from whale teeth and bones are on display.
