Tiago Azevedo, a painter and architect born in Terceira who currently lives in Munich, is exhibiting for the first time in his homeland. Motivated by the mystical fog and the fantastic landscapes of the Azores, he has developed a painting style between pop surrealism and the classic techniques of the great masters, such as oils on canvas. Passionate about the Baroque and the dramatic contrasts of chiaroscuro. His paintings are often related to religion and fantasy, as is the case, among others, with the Salome and Cinderella pieces that are part of this exhibition. As he is compared to the painter Margaret Keane, Tiago Azevedo believes that this comes from the stylistic enlargement of the eyes, which he claims is just a way of making it easier to transfer emotion onto the canvas. Since he chose to follow his dream of painting, he has taken part in numerous exhibitions such as in Lisbon, at the Palácio Foz; in Cannes; at the Louvre in Paris; at an event organised by the Vatican in Rome; and also in New York. This has allowed him to be closer to artists and helped him gain the respect of the public and international critics.
