One hundred years ago, the writer Raul Brandão (1867-1930) set sail for the Azores on a journey that lasted around two months and resulted in the 1926 publication of an extraordinary impressionist diary about the Portuguese islands. The Museum of Angra do Heroísmo will mark the 100th anniversary of Raúl Brandão’s visit to the Azores by organising a Reading Marathon of The Unknown Islands. The reading will be preceded by a presentation by Nuno Ornelas Martins, entitled Raúl Brandão’s Unknown Islands: Beyond Notes and Landscapes. At the same time, various activities will be organised for children around the mini-marathon’s theme.
