The Museum of Angra do Heroísmo opens the exhibition of the 1st edition of the AFAA Photography Prize at the Carmina | Dimas Simas Lopes Contemporary Art Gallery on Friday 23rd September at 21:00.
The exhibit, sponsored by Associação de Fotógrafos Amadores dos Açores (AFAA),is composed of 12 works of 3 photographs each, all from the General category, selected by a jury made up of renowned photographers António Luís Campos, Pepe Brix and Eduardo Leal. The exhibit reflects the result of the AFAA Photo Award, which was launched in 2020 and created exclusively for AFAA members.
It is a biannual photographic competition which aims to foster the development of photographic projects and give wings to the creativity of its associates, who could compete in the freestyle, General (cameras) and Smart (smartphones) categories.
This exhibition, available to the public until 4 February, features photographs by Ana Rute Medeiros, Francisco Carreiro, Gabi Pontes, Jorge Kol de Carvalho, José Maria Sousa, Nelson Raposo, Paulo Medeiros, Pedro Rosa and Paulo Rodrigues Jorge, who was the winner of this first edition of the competition.
Previously on show in Ponta Delgada’s Praça do Município, this exhibit now arrives at Carmina to celebrate photography as a creative pursuit.
