MAH Educational Service, 27 May, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Taking a photograph is now a common and almost compulsive act, through which we record everyday actions and immortalise the faces of those who captivate us. However, there was a time when a portrait depended not only on the artistic ability and time-consuming work of a painter, but also on the social prominence and patience of the model. Let’s look at some of the works on display in the exhibition From Sea and Land | A History in the Atlantic to understand how a portrait was made and how the colours, lines, position and objects that accompany each of the subjects reveal their personality and tell us about the era in which they lived. Finally, in the studio, we will learn how to prepare tempera, just as the old masters did, and paint ourselves with great pomp and circumstance. Target audience: 16 children aged 5 and over Participation subject to prior registration by telephone on 295 240 800 or by email at [email protected] Cost: €5, to be donated to the Make a Wish organisation
