CARMINA | DIMAS SIMAS LOPES CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY
The exhibition is the product and resulting body of work from the artistic residency of Portuguese-Canadian author Joe Lima, held at Carmina – Galeria de Arte Contemporânea Dimas Simas Lopes, between 25 January and 1 March 2025, which transformed this exhibition space into a creative studio and a point of transatlantic cultural exchange. The artist explores the human condition and its relationship with the surrounding world, an environment that can sometimes be unsettling and disturbing. Joe Lima (1963), a painter, sculptor and engraver born on the island of São Miguel, works and lives in Montreal and is represented by the Canadian galleries Galerie Nicolas Robert and Galerie Roger Bellemare et Christian Lambert.
