The MAH presents, for the first time, the works of Mário Duarte in an exhibition dedicated to his ceramic pieces.
The artist and poet, from São Jorge Island, always maintained a relaxed and free approach to art, using loose sheets of paper and notebooks to draw or scribble without concerns, purposes, or predetermined outcomes. It was the act of “distracting the hands” that led him to drawing and painting, later guiding him to many other experiments, analyses, and personal concepts in his approach to working with tiles.
