THE PORTRAIT IN THE COLLECTION OF THE MUSEUM OF ANGRA DO HEROÍSMO
Olhar Do Outro (The Eye of the Other) proposes a sensitive journey through the representation of the face and portraiture in the paintings of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo collection, exploring how different artists deal with the human figure, not only as appearance, but as symbolic, emotional and physical territory, through the most diverse two-dimensional media and techniques, in a broad chronological scope, ranging from the 17th to the 21st century. In times of image saturation, when faces multiply on digital screens and social networks, painted and drawn portraits take on a new sense of presence. Painting someone today is an act of resistance to the ephemeral, a gesture of fixation, of permanence.
