WORKSHOP – AUDITORIUM OF THE SÃO FRANCISCO BUILDING 3:00 PM
PERFORMANCE – CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF GUIA 9:00 PM
Open Access

In partnership with the Friends of the Angra do Heroísmo Museum Association, the MAH hosts the performance My Life is the Sea, April, the Street, created by the beOMNI Expression platform, co-founded by artists Joana Moreira and Miguel Maduro-Dias. Centred on the theme of freedom, this project pays tribute to one of the great masters of Portuguese literature, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. In this performance—driven by the desire to continually celebrate freedom—the duo beOMNI Expression will interpret musical works by composers such as Francisco de Lacerda, Alfredo Teixeira, Lopes-Graça, Debussy, and Rachmaninoff; quote songs from Zeca Afonso to Sérgio Godinho that celebrate April; and present an interdisciplinary narrative built exclusively from the words of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. There will also be a workshop, where facts and ideas will be shared about the 50th anniversary of 25 April 1974, as well as about the life and work of the poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. It will be led by Historian Francisco Maduro-Dias and Professor Henrique Manuel Pereira, who together will explore questions such as “What idea of Freedom and Space does a bird in a cage have?” and “What do Sophia’s eyes see and say when they look at the world?”
