04.10.2025 - 11.10.2025

Lux Fecit is a group dedicated to film photography — black and white or colour, negative, positive or Polaroid™ —, created in 2023 and based at the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, with the aim of bringing together lovers of this photographic art. In this context, in close collaboration with the Museum of Museum of Angra do Heroísmo and as part of its programme of activities, Lux Fecit is presenting two workshops on Saturdays throughout October: ANALOGUE PHOTOGRAPHY 4 October | Carmina – Dimas Simas Lopes Contemporary Art Gallery 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Trainer: Jaime Regalado This workshop introduces participants to photographic technique in terms of managing its three basic elements – aperture, speed and sensitivity – as well as an introduction to the process of developing black and white negative film. From the first image captured on silver salt emulsion in France in 1824 to the last decade of the 20th century, photographic records, whether negative or positive, black and white or colour, were made on film in various formats. Digital photography, which opened the door to a whole new generation of photography and photographers, both in terms of technique and composition, did not dispense with the basic knowledge of so-called analogue photography, but rather expanded it with new possibilities. PROGRAMME Morning | 1h30 theoretical introduction + 1h30 hour of photographic recording with analogue cameras. Afternoon | 2h for film development, with the photographic records from the morning. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 11 October | Carmina – Dimas Simas Lopes Contemporary Art Gallery 2.30pm – 5.30pm Trainer: Rui Caria The technical discourse of digital photography is the same as that of analogue photography. Photography, as an image record, results from a combination of technical precision and the photographer’s visual creativity. However, in this balance, the creative component stands out as an element that allows a message to be conveyed or the world to be revealed through the eyes and sensitivity of the photographer. Led by photographer Rui Caria, this workshop focuses precisely on the aesthetic and creative dialogue of composition that transforms an image into a message, a story or an object of visual delight.
