Musical Expression Workshop
Educational Service of the MAH / Capítulo Gallery, 17th January, 3–5 pm

Traditionally, festivities in our islands are enlivened by the distinctive sounds of philharmonic bands, and for many children and young people these associations provide their first contact with musical language and the handling of musical instruments. This workshop aims to raise awareness of the different sounds that make up a music band, using the interactive e-maestro installation and the exhibition A ver a banda passar…, on display in the Capítulo Gallery of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo.

At the same time, the workshop seeks to promote listening skills, enabling participants to distinguish timbres associated with the percussion and wind instrument families.

Movement, sound exploration, guided listening sessions, the construction of simple musical toys and their use are among the activities planned for this introductory afternoon into the captivating world of sound—where we will watch the band and listen to what it has to say.
