Nativity scene workshop Educational Service of the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, 2 December, 2 p.m. The tradition of nativity scenes dates back to the time of settlement, influenced by the Franciscan Order. However, it was in the convents of São Miguel that the tradition of ‘lapinhas’ emerged, decorated with shells, artificial silk flowers, paper, fish scales, wax and cotton, transporting the Nativity to a more or less rural setting made with moss and stones.
