MAH Printmaking Workshops in the 1970s

In the 1970s, the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo became the stage for a unique artistic movement. Under the guidance of Humberto Marçal and Manuela Pinheiro, printmaking courses were held that opened up new possibilities for creative and artistic experimentation. This exhibition brings together original works produced in these courses, accompanied by documents, photographs, and the press used in the workshops, as well as printmaking tools and materials that reveal the precision and sensitivity of the technical process. The exhibition invites visitors to revisit a time of discovery and learning, when the Museum was simultaneously a space for training, sharing, and collective creation. In dialogue with the present, the display also features a video of a contemporary artist producing prints, emphasising the relevance and continuity of this artistic practice.
