Museum of Angra do Heroísmo
We are once again marking European Night of Museums on Saturday 20 May with a programme themed around interculturality and the Azorean diaspora, out of which the viola da terra and its candidacy for World Cultural and Intangible Heritage stand out. This day, which has been celebrated annually since 1997, was created to strengthen museums’ ties with society through various cultural activities.
By exploiting the universal dimension of its collection and collaborating with various public and private partners, the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo intends, with this recreational and cultural programme, to emphasise the relevant contribution of museums to well-being, inclusion and the promotion of interculturality within their communities and in the world.
