Carmina Dimas Simas Lopes Gallery

This beginner’s embroidery workshop is part of a training project run by the Crafts and Design Centre of the Azores – CADA, which essentially aims to promote and encourage the transmission of traditional Azorean craft skills and, at the same time, foster innovation and creativity in craft production.
White and pure, Terceira’s embroidery reveals the influence of English and Madeiran embroidery by favouring richelieu and satin stitches. Towels, bedsheets, pillowcases, bedspreads and doilies are some of the items that used to make up the bridal trousseau of the elite of Terceira and which are now the main offer of the Azorean textile market with national and international projection.
