Guided Visit to the Exhibition António Dacosta (1914–1990) | A 20th-Century Painter

António Dacosta was a painter from Terceira who quickly became a citizen of the world, closely following the many avant-garde movements that emerged in the 20th century. This guided visit explores the exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of his birth, on display in the Dacosta Gallery of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo. Participants will see how, in his paintings, serene echoes of life on his native island intersect with shattered, confrontational, and seemingly disconnected representations of reality—reflections of the many crises and catastrophes experienced in Europe over the past century.
