As part of its series of conferences at the Military History Centre, the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo is promoting the lecture Food in Times of War, given by MAH senior technician Carla Devesa Rodrigues, reflecting on how periods of conflict have profoundly shaped the way we eat, from survival practices to the evolution of the food industry. Based on the principle that food intake goes beyond the mere satisfaction of a biological need, the lecture explores how, in times of war, the act of eating becomes an exercise in resistance and adaptation. Resource scarcity, logistical challenges and the urgency of food preservation have motivated innovations and strategies that continue in contemporary practices.
