Educational Service

The Museum of Angra do Heroísmo (MAH) aims to establish itself as a space for preserving memory and generating knowledge, promoting non-formal education in a context that encourages the development of cultural habits. To this end, it offers a diverse programme of activities exploring the various themes of its temporary and permanent exhibitions, as well as its visitable reserves.

Through its Educational Service, the MAH organises guided tours, workshops, and other activities with the aim of connecting the institution to the community. In this way, the service acts as a cultural mediator, fostering both critical and emotional understanding of the artistic, historical, and cultural heritage of the Museum.

The Educational Service offers playful and educational activities for a variety of audiences, including schools (kindergartens, 1st cycle to secondary, vocational schools, and special education programmes), senior citizen centres, and university students. Children and young people are among the main users of the MAH, which requires the preparation of visit guides tailored to each educational level. The activities are free of charge and conducted by the Educational Service team, subject to prior registration. These initiatives are publicised in the section dedicated to the MAH’s monthly agenda.
