Opening on 20 June, 20:00. Guided tour of the exhibition
We will honour Manuel Machado Ávila with an exhibition that attempts to summarise a life where his natural talents were dedicated to others. He was born in Doze Ribeiras on 10 May 1916. At a very young age, this native of Terceira revealed an extraordinary ability to draw and an immense passion for the arts. Working the land was neither his vocation nor his desired destiny. Helping his primary school teacher allowed him to extend his time at school, which led him to enter the Industrial and Commercial School of Angra do Heroísmo in 1933. He began a career as a building technician that take him to Graciosa Island, where he started a family, lived the rest of his life and left behind a body of work that he thought about, designed and built until he passed away in 2001.
