Ex-libris

The new section of Museu Adentro highlights a series of ex-libris that, as well as being part of David Fernandes’ private collection, were conceived and designed by him. The pieces here presented are Ex-libris. They are functional miniature art pieces that are glued to books and that identify libraries. Because of their symbolic richness and aesthetics, they first became collector’s objects, then of worship, later on of study and today, they are a systematic subject of a science: librarianship. The exhibit presentation will include a lecture by the collector, entitled The Fascination of Ex-Libris – Considerations around Ex-Libris and Heraldry.
