The Craft & Arts project is promoted by the Vice-Presidency of the Government through the Centro Regional de Apoio ao Artesanato (CRAA), and proposes an educational approach to craft activities, based on the development of entrepreneurial and innovation skills, which will enable craft businesses to diversify and differentiate their products.
The residency fostered the prototyping of differentiated handicraft products based on an endogenous resource that cuts across all the islands, wood, boosting awareness and, consequently, greater value and more business opportunities by conquering new markets beyond the traditional ones.
It involved the participation of two artisanal production units in the sausage and wood arts, namely Susana Almeida and Francisco Pereira, and product designer Susana António, as well as the collaboration of the Regional Directorate for the Environment and the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources.
