II Moment From th Sea and Land... a story in the Atlantic
Exquisite, beautiful and rich, these Namban (Southern barbarian) chests from the Momoyama period (1568 to 1603 or even earlier) belonged to the collector Vergílio Schneider. They are magnificent examples of Namban art, which developed in Japan following the arrival of the Portuguese in 1543, and constituted one of the first known examples of the Westernisation of Asia.
