Art on the Skin

The body is the most ancestral of the canvases used by humanity. Not only has it been linked to initiation rituals and tribal or group loyalty processes, tattoos are also a form of artistic and symbolic expression, linked to personal stories and making up an album whose pages are the individual themselves. In this meeting with renowned professionals linked to three tattoo studios on Terceira Island, the artistic value of this ancient form of expression is analysed, their work is presented and the technical specificities inherent in skin art are discussed.
