Iconografia da Paixão (Iconography of the Passion)

The guided tour of the Chapel of the Third Order in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Guia, led by MAH Senior Technician Assunção Melo and Professor Carlos Severino, will focus on the iconography of the Passion of Christ, as depicted in the wall tiles, ceiling paintings, religious images and oratories. The symbolic analysis of these elements will provide an understanding of the narrative of Christ’s suffering, death and redemption, as well as their pedagogical, catechetical and devotional function, bringing together art, faith and historical memory within a space of profound spirituality.
