The MAH is hosting a concert of Baroque music in the choir loft of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Guia, organised by Musurgia – Cultural Association. Performed by João Francisco Távora on the recorder and the Azorean musician Luís Abrantes on the theorbo, the programme is dedicated to 18th-century French music and offers a journey through some of the most refined works in the Baroque repertoire for this instrumental combination. Bringing together performers with international careers and a recognised track record in promoting early music, the concert includes works by key composers of the French tradition, such as Jacques-Martin Hotteterre, François Couperin and Michel Blavet, amongst others. In a setting of particular intimacy and beaty, this encounter between the recorder and the theorbo invites the listener to savour delicate, subtle and expressive sounds, in a programme that evokes the refinement of French chamber music from the Baroque period. This concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport / Directorate-General for the Arts.
