Carmina | Dimas Simas Lopes Contemporary Art Gallery
Re_act Contemporary 2021
Re_Act Contemporary is an art laboratory co-founded by Paulo Arraiano and Paulo Ávila Sousa. It is based in the Azores. It has been promoting artistic residencies on Terceira Island with artists of different nationalities and areas of expression Since 2017. Their work has been part of several joint exhibitions at the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo.
The 2012 edition of RE_ACT CONTEMPORARY will take place for the first time at Carmina | Dimas Simas Lopes Contemporary Art Gallery. It is called I Have Been in Love for 8 Million Years and includes the participation of Adrien Missika, Ingela Ihrman, Pedro Barateiro and Richard Healy.
Given the island status of the Azores, its volcanic nature and its isolated location in the middle of the Atlantic, which encourage contemplation and provide direct contact with nature, the curatorial selection focused on artists whose work favours an environmentalist perspective or satirically denounces the gap created in the post-digital era between man and reality.
