Educational Service of the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo November 30th 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM; 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM The production of flowers, intended for the embellishment of liturgical spaces and the decoration of the floats used in processions, was one of the tasks to which convent nuns dedicated themselves. The refinement of their execution and the value of the raw materials made them prestigious goods, which constituted an important source of income for Azorean convents in the 18th and 19th centuries. In this workshop, the artisan Gabrieal Mota Faria, will recall the technique of palm frond composition, symmetrical compositions of artificial flowers, traditionally used in the decoration of oratories and altars, in a joint iniciative of the Museum of Angra do Heroímos and the Regional Centre for Support to Handicrafts.
