Capítulo Gallery, 8 March to 1 April. On 2 March, the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo will open the exhibition ©Madalena, 12+1 portraits, the result of a collective and individual project marking the first anniversary of the KameraPhoto gallery, the only Portuguese agency dedicated to documentary photography. According to KGaleria, ©Madalena is the result of a collective effort to construct a contemporary icon. In a society that is constantly televised, where needs are constructed and anonymous people are transformed into celebrities and products, ©Madalena is a proposal for the deconstruction of an ideological system. Alexandre Almeida, Augusto Brázio, António Júlio Duarte, Céu Guarda, Dora Nogueira, Guillaume Pazat, José Maçãs de Carvalho, Pedro Azevedo, Pedro Loureiro, Sandra Rocha, São Trindade, Sarah Adamopoulos and Valter Vinagre are the accomplices who, in the manner of a cadavre exquis, i.e., unaware of the proposals of the other participants, have embarked on a solitary exercise of interpreting an unknown figure. ©Madalena encourages visitors to search for the Madalena portrayed. Already presented in venues such as K Galeria in Lisbon and the Museu da Imagem in Braga, ©Madalena will be inaugurated on 2 March at 6 pm at the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo, with Madalena in attendance. The exhibition will be open to the public until 15 April 2007.
