MAH Educational Service, 30 April, 2 p.m. Tiles are a practical, colourful and durable form of covering that is part of our everyday lives. However, for more than five centuries, Portuguese tiles have also been a medium for artistic expression, assuming, alongside their practical use, special relevance in aesthetic, scenographic and narrative terms. In this workshop, promoted in partnership by the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo and the Regional Centre for Handicraft Support, participants will learn about the many stories that the tiles of the São Francisco Building and the Church of Nossa Senhora da Guia have to tell and, using motifs used by the former Terceira Ceramics Factory, will create their own tiles under the guidance of ceramist Aurélia Rocha. Instructor: Aurélia Rocha Target audience: children aged 7 and above, young people and adults
